Alabama Men’s Basketball Tops Missouri, 68-56, Wednesday Night and goes to 4-1 in SEC Featured

Sophomore Avery Johnson Jr. and junior Riley Norris scored 13 points each to help lift the Alabama men’s basketball team to a 68-56 victory over the Missouri Tigers on Wednesday night at Coleman Coliseum. With the win, the Crimson Tide improves to an overall 11-7 record, including a 4-1 mark in Southeastern Conference play. 

 

The game started slowly, as neither team broke 30 points in the first half. Alabama shot 33 percent from the field in the half, and outscored Missouri in the paint by a 12-6 margin. The Tide also held an edge on the rebounding battle in the half, 23-17. Alabama led by eight points at the midway point of the first half, before going on to claim a seven-point lead going into halftime, 26-19.

Coming out of halftime, Alabama went on a 22-12 run to take a 48-34 lead at the midway point of the second half. With five minutes left in regulation, the Tide held a 10-point lead at 57-47. From that point on, Alabama cruised to a 68-56 victory over the Tigers. Alabama shot an impressive 57 percent from the field in the second half, while hitting 50 percent of its shots beyond the arc.

Alabama shot 43 percent from the field in the 40 minute contest, while shooting 33 percent from behind the three-point line. The Tide also won the rebounding contest by a 39-31margin.

The Tide will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 21, when it travels to Auburn, Ala., to take on in-state foe Auburn in a game that is set to broadcast on ESPN2 at 3 p.m. CT.
