On Dec. 11, Nick’s Kids Foundation will host its 4th Annual Teacher Excellence Awards Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Tuscaloosa River Market. Approximately 24 elementary and middle school teachers from the City of Tuscaloosa School System will be honored.

Each school’s principal nominated a teacher who goes above and beyond the required responsibilities inside and outside of the classroom. Honorees will be accompanied by their families and principals.

Ms. Terry Saban will personally present each honoree with an award accompanied by $500 worth of gift cards to applaud his or her excellence.

“The Tuscaloosa City Schools is fortunate to have so many great teachers who work tirelessly for the students they serve. The recognition by Nick's Kids is a terrific way to thank and recognize such a deserving group of educators,” stated Mike Daria, on behalf of the Tuscaloosa City School System.

The celebration will be a fun filled day with holiday arts and crafts for the children such as Edgar’s Bakery Christmas cookie or ornament decorating, an appearance from Big Al, a delicious lunch provided by Jim ‘N Nicks, and a Christmas performance by The Rise School Bell Choir.

With her past experience as a teacher and student, Ms. Terry Saban expressed, “I am passionate about education and going beyond the realm of expectation in teaching, and each year, I look forward to having the opportunity to thank each attendee for all that they do for our community and our future.”

Nick’s Kids partnered with Edgar’s Bakery, Jim ‘N Nicks, Pat’s Florist, City of Tuscaloosa, and Lacefield Designs for the luncheon.

The Nick’s Kids Fund, started by Nick and Terry Saban, is a non-profit organization which supports children, family, teacher and student causes throughout the state of Alabama.
